Introduction to Bode

Hi there, my name is Bode Ajayi and welcome to “Bode Ajayi’s Digital Economy blog’. As the title suggests, this blog is going to mainly be about digital economy. I will be talking about how technology impact the ins and outs of businesses and the economy.

Today’s post is going to be like a little soliloquy, I will be introducing myself so you can get to know me a little and also talk about my work experience. As you already know my name is Bode and I am a 21-year-old business marketing student in SETU Waterford.

During the third year of my course, I had work placement in the second semester. My placement took place for 9 months at the Bank of New York Mellon which is a corporate investment banking company. The work experience was more on financial side of business rather than marketing, at first it took some time to adjust as it was all new to me, but I did adapt and really enjoyed the whole experience. My role at the company was as a Trust Associate in the corporate trust department, the experience was really enlightening on how an office and the real-world works.

Going into the job I already knew that majority of the work is going to done digitally bust looking back now its really crazy that everything I did work, and even non-work related was done digitally. Information systems and IT infrastructure impacted the job heavily from connecting with people through Microsoft teams and outlook, using systems like GCM and Nexen to monitor cashflows and also Nitro to create and to save and protect files. Everything I did was digital including completing my timesheet on a system called Beeline.

My overall experience was good and I would like to go back to go back but in another office in a different country where I have the option to work remotely like I did during my placement.
