Today we are talking about implementing ERP systems successfully.
An Enterprise Resource planning (ERP) system is a type of software that collects data from many divisions of a company and uses the data to help the company manage day-to-day business activities such as accounting, procurement, project management, risk management and compliance, and supply chain operations.
Amazon
Amazon is a multinational technology
corporation that specializes mainly in e-commerce but also other in industries
such as digital streaming, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence. Amazon
uses a customer centric approach strategy to be market leaders in the
e-commerce industry, they really emphasize on creating great customer
experience and satisfaction.
Amazon uses an ERP software called System
Analysis and Program Development (SAP).
Amazon began implementing SAP as their
ERP solution in 2008 due to the reason that the system they were using previously
was not able to help them reach their long-term goals. They implemented softwares such as SAP Basis/ NetWeaver Administration, SAP Business Suite, SAP HANA, and
SAP mobility.
SAP has helped them manage their:
· Sales
· Financial accounting
· Human resources
· Logistics
· Inventory management
· Order management
· Invoice verification
Walmart
Walmart is a multinational retail
corporation that operates a chain of hypermarkets, discount department stores,
and grocery stores in the United States. Their main focus is on providing low
prices for products and services.
Walmart uses many ERP systems but in
2018 they went into a partnership with Microsoft to build a digital
transformation through Microsoft Azure. Microsoft Azure which is a platform for
several ERP systems.
They use the Microsoft ERP to help deal
with cloud-based enterprise management to control resources, monitor
warehousing capacity, and integrate with existing software tools. The ERP
systems also provides them with:
· Integration with developing blockchain based
solutions
· Use of Artificial intelligence to manage
supplier relationships
Walmart have gained a competitive edge
in technology due to its ERP system, which helped improved their supply chain
management efficiency while also strengthening integration and collaboration
with suppliers and also improving worldwide company management efficiency.
Starbucks
Starbucks Corporation is an American
multinational chain of coffeehouses and roastery reserves. Starbucks strategy is centered around
providing a high-end experience for their customers, emphasizing high-quality
products and a welcoming atmosphere of third place, a place away from home and
work.
Starbuck uses Oracle ERP which is a
cloud-based software system that automates back-office tasks and day-to-day
business operations.
They use Oracle E-Business suite which
supports operations such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Supply
Chain Management (SCM). It also helps display revenue analytics and provides
quick access to information such as:
· Expenses
· Revenue
· Data on sales
